Ever wanted to learn how to DJ?

or

Do you already know your way around the decks and fancy showing us what you can do?

Fresh on the Decks is a brand-new DJ workshop and open decks event from Salisbury DJ Academy, created especially for young people aged 11–17.

Taking place in the beautiful attic event space at Daliz Menswear in Salisbury, the day is designed to give the next generation of DJs an opportunity to get hands-on with professional, club-standard DJ equipment, learn new skills and experience what it feels like to take control of the decks.

Whether you've never touched a set of decks before or you're already mixing at home, everyone is welcome.

Beginner DJ Workshops

During the first part of the day, we'll be running a series of one-hour, small-group beginner DJ workshops.

Our experienced tutors will introduce you to the fundamentals of DJing and show you around the equipment before giving you the opportunity to get hands-on and start mixing for yourself.

You'll learn some of the core skills behind DJing, including selecting and cueing tracks, understanding beats and timing, using the mixer and creating your first transitions.

No previous DJ experience is required – we'll provide the equipment and music, so all you’ll need to do is turn up and join in the fun.

Workshop places cost £10 per person and spaces are limited to ensure everyone gets plenty of time behind the decks.

Everyone completing a workshop will receive a Salisbury DJ Academy certificate of participation plus 50% discount voucher for a one hour, one-to-one taster session at Salisbury DJ Academy if you'd like to continue learning.

Open Decks – From 3PM

From 3PM, we're opening up the DJ booth for our FREE Under-18s Open Decks session.

This part of the day is open to young DJs of all abilities. You might have just completed your first workshop earlier in the day, be learning to DJ at home, already be one of our Academy students, or simply want an opportunity to have a spin on the decks.

You'll be able to take your turn behind the decks, play some music, practice your skills and meet other young people who share an interest in DJing and electronic music.

There'll be experienced DJs and tutors around throughout the session to offer help and encouragement when needed, so there's no pressure and no need to be an experienced performer.

It's all about having fun, playing the music you love, building self-confidence and giving young DJs somewhere to learn, practise and play.

Parents, friends and family are welcome

Parents, guardians, friends and family are welcome to come along and see what we're doing, particularly during the afternoon Open Decks session.

So whether you're interested in learning to DJ for the very first time or you're already mixing and looking for somewhere to practise your skills, we'd love to see you at Fresh on the Decks.
