This 12 session course comprises of 10 × 1 hour, face to face sessions and 2 × 30 minute remote sessions (held over Zoom) and it covers the basic principles of vinyl DJing, harmonic mixing and beat matching.
You will be learning on top spec. industry standard DJ equipment (2 x Technics SL1210 turntables with a Pioneer DJM-A9 Mixer).
Students are expected to provide their own vinyl for this course.

Building and organising a high quality music collection.
Vinyl care, storage, BPM, Key & cueing your tracks.
Levels, EQ, Filters & Basic Effects.
The basics of beat matching, phrasing and harmonic mixing.
How pitch & tempo affect the key of a track
How to put together your first DJ mix.
We recommend attending 2 practical sessions per week alongside some home learning/research. At the end of the 12 sessions you should be familiar with the equipment and have developed the basic knowledge and skills to be able to beat match and create your first DJ mix.
Upon completion of this course students who feel they’re ready and would like to play out in public are encouraged to sign up for our monthly “Open Decks” events.
