Designed for complete beginners, these hands-on sessions will give you the opportunity to explore the world of DJing, learn some essential skills and experience what it's like to mix on professional, club-standard DJ equipment.
Think of it as your first step into DJing, with friendly, personalised guidance from one of our experienced tutors.
What you'll learn and experience:
Getting started with Rekordbox – An introduction to AlphaTheta/Pioneer DJ's music management and performance software, including how to organise and prepare your music.
The fundamentals of DJing – Discover the basics of beat matching, phrasing and harmonic mixing, and how DJs use these techniques to create seamless transitions between tracks.
Professional DJ equipment – Get familiar with our industry-standard Pioneer CDJ-3000 players and DJM-A9 mixer, learning what the main controls do and how to use them.
Hands-on mixing experience – Step behind the decks and start mixing your first tracks, with one-to-one coaching and guidance throughout.
No previous experience is necessary. We'll guide you through everything at your own pace, making sure you feel comfortable and confident behind the decks.
Whether you're considering taking up DJing as a hobby, exploring a new creative skill or thinking about enrolling on one of our structured DJ courses, this session is a great place to start.
Our taster sessions are held in two parts.
A remote, 30-40 minute introduction to Rekordbox (held over Zoom).
A one hour, face to face studio session.
